You Can Do It, Too!

KNOT IN HANDKERCHIEF

EFFECT: Here is a quick and easy challenge which can be performed anywhere with any handkerchief. The magician wagers that he can tie a knot in a handkerchief without letting go of either end in the process. With that, he offers the handkerchief to anyone who wishes to try their luck before he attempts the seemingly impossible task himself. It soon becomes quite apparent that no one is able to perform the feat under those conditions. When all have tried and failed, the magician cleverly performs the stunt with ease and grace.

METHOD:
1. Hold the handkerchief at opposite corners and twirl it in a rope-like fashion between your hands. Then, place it on the table directly in front of you.

2
. In order to meet the terms of the challenge, before you pick up the handkerchief, cross your arms as shown.

3
. Now, lean forward until you can grasp one end of the handkerchief in each hand.

4
. With one end of the handkerchief held tightly in each hand, simply uncross your arms. As you do, the ends of the handkerchief will be drawn through your arms, creating a single knot in the center of the handkerchief - without releasing the ends!

5
. Immediately toss the handkerchief to your spectators as they will, no doubt, want to try the stunt themselves and later perform this "Betcha" for their friends.
